Meet the Attorneys at Sullivan and Company

Rod Sullivan is certified by the Florida Bar and is a specialist in the field of maritime law. Sullivan and Company bring and defend lawsuits arising out of maritime accidents including personal injuries and death, collisions, damage caused to cargo, and yacht and marina fires. In addition, we seize and arrest ships to enforce maritime liens.

Rod Sullivan was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Garden City, New York on Long Island. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point New York in 1977 with dual degrees in Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering. Upon graduation he received United States Coast guard licenses as a Third Mate and Third Assistant Engineer, Steam and Motor. Less than 10% of Kings Point graduates participate in the dual license program.

After graduation he went to Guam where he gained a license as a First Class Pilot and then went to sea working as a ship's officer for the Military Sealift Command. He worked his way through law school taking semesters off to go to sea as an engineer aboard the AT&T Longlines laying undersea telephone cables.

Rod graduated from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. with an L.L.M. in International and Comparative Law. Rod is an adjunct professor of law at Florida Coastal School of Law,  teaching Admiralty and Maritime Law.
